Black and Pearl with 51 Bass Controlplate |
|
This is a Black Sollophonic with an all maple neck. Like all Sollophonics it has a bone top nut fitted, and has a National style maple bridge fitted to the resonator cone. This one has a 6.9K neck pickup which has had the chrome cover opened up to expose the polepieces, giving a real boost in tone, volume and brightness compared to the enclosed style ones. This is wired to top- bout controls on a Tele Bass/Squier 51 control plate, which is front mounted and fitted with black chickenhead knobs, and the pickup is mounted to a white pearl scratchplate. The pickup is wired in such a way that future upgrades are simple to do, and is also wired to give minimal treble loss when the volume control is turned down. It is strung with Newtone Michael Messer 13-56 strings, and has a slightly lower action which allows easy chordal work, yet allows slide playing as well. It has a warm and rich electric tone, plus that unique Sollophonic acoustic one as well. This is also a great looking guitar, and references many aspects of electric guitar design, and even possible has a few automobile influences as well. A classy looking Sollophonic with tone and playability to match!
